The Symphony of Peace Prayers (SOPP) is an inter-religious, intercultural and inter-spiritual public event that is open for all. On this day we honor and give gratitude to the beautiful peace prayers from different faith traditions (Christian, Muslim, Buddhist, Hindu, etc.) in order to create and spread a wave of peace, harmony, light and love to all corners of the Earth, and to elevate the consciousness of all humanity, so that peace may be realized as soon as possible.

Since 2005, the main SOPP has been held at the Fuji Sanctuary in Japan hosted by the Byakko Shinko Kai (see: www.byakkoblog.typepad.com/sopp/).

Last year (2009), Manila was among the 400 locations from over 50 countries around the globe that participated in this powerful and moving worldwide synchronized event. See photos below at earlier blog post...

Welcome to the official webpage of the MANDALA PEACE ARTS INITIATIVE!

We are the local satellite group of the Japan-based organization, Byakko Shinko Kai ("white-light organization") dedicated to creating cultures of peace & healing of the world, and elevating the consciousness of humanity by promoting the practical spiritual exercises of MANDALA-WRITING and DIVINITY-IN (mudra), and organizing WORLD PEACE PRAYER projects through regular monthly workshops and public events held in and around Metro Manila.

What is a MANDALA?

Mandala is an old Sanskrit (Indian) word which means "circle."
It loosely refers to any circular-symmetrical spiritual art design.
But as a spiritual art form, the mandala was popularized through the ancient traditions of Tibetan Buddhist monks who create colorful and intricate patterns in a circle out of colored sand and grains while praying. Today, it is adapted as a fun and creative art work through which adults and youth alike ( from any cultural or spiritual tradition) can generate vibrations of healing and positive affirmations of peace and gratitude towards fellow human beings, to nature and to God.

In Mandala-writing peace arts, the Mandala is a circle with a center around which important and meaningful positive words are placed. As peaceful, positive thoughts and prayers are written in a circular way on a piece of paper (with concentric circles), one becomes attuned to the truth being imprinted while the power of the intention are poured into it. By using colored pens in writing and designing unique patterns, beautiful artistic Mandalas can be created. Completed works of Mandalas continuously send forth wonderful energy to us and to the environment. . .

On this day we honor and give gratitude to the beautiful peace prayers from different faith traditions (Christian, Muslim, Buddhist, Hindu, etc.) in order to create and spread a wave of peace, harmony, light and love to all corners of the Earth, and to elevate the consciousness of all humanity, so that peace may be realized as soon as possible.

Aside from the interfaith peace prayer service, the event engages the public in the World Peace Prayer Ceremony whereby peace is prayed for all the nations as the name of each country in the world is called and its national flag is waved.
